In a large mixing bowl, cream butter; gradually add powdered sugar, beating at a medium speed until light and fluffy. Add egg, vanilla, almond extract and food coloring; beating until blended. In a small mixing bowl, combine flour and salt; add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Spoon dough into pastry bag and pipe mixture into shapes on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 6-8 minutes. Remove to a wire rack to cool. I make hearts for Valentine's, easter eggs for Easter, stars for 4th of July or Christmas, pumpkins for Halloween, and Christmas trees for Christmas. Just use your imagination!
