Toffee Bars

Ingredients

- 2 cups flour
- 1 3/4 cups packed light brown sugar
- 2 sticks butter
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1 (6 oz) pkg chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  1. Mix the flour and 1 cup of the brown sugar, cut in 1 stick of softened butter until the mixture resembles fine crumbs.
  2. Press into the bottom of a 9x13 lightly greased baking dish. Sprinkle with pecans.
  3. In a medium saucepan, bring to a boil the 2 sticks of butter and 3/4 cup brown sugar. Boil exactly 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  4. Pour over the pressed mixture and bake exactly 20 minutes. Let sit 1 minute, then sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  5. When chips begin to melt, spread with a spatula. Chill thoroughly; return to room temperature before cutting.
