Caramel Apple Pie

Ingredients

2 Pillsbury Pie Crusts (in the Dairy Section)
Filling:
6 Granny Smith Apples
1 TB Lemon Juice
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Sugar
1/4 cup Flour
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Nutmeg
1/4 tsp Salt
1 tsp Vanilla
4 TB Whipping Cream
4 TB Butter
Streusel Topping:
1/2 cup Flour
3 TB Sugar
1 TB Butter
2 Toffee Bars (scrape off chocolate and crush)

1 beaten egg white
1 TB Sugar

Instructions

Preheat Oven to 450 degrees

Pie Crust: Follow directions for 2 crust pie.

Filling:
Peel, core and slice apples. Place in bowl and sprinkle with lemon juice. Set aside. In large mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Add apples and toss. Add vanilla and whipping cream and toss. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add apple mixture and cook for 8 minutes, to soften apples. Pour filling into pie shell.

Streusel Topping:
In small mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar. Mix in butter with fork until coarse crumbs, stir in toffee chips. Sprinkle over pie.

Add top crust. Seal edges and vent top. Brush with beaten egg white and sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake an additional 45 minutes.
