Preheat oven to 450 degrees. (If you are using a bread stone, place it in the oven first and then turn on the oven.)
In a medium bowl, pour water and then dissolve sugar and yeast. Whisk well, let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
Stir in flour, salt, and oil. Beat until smooth. Let rest for 5 minutes.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a round. Transfer crust to a lightly greased pizza pan (if not using a stone) or a baker's peel dusted with cornmeal.
Spread with desired topping and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Let pizza cool about 5 minutes before serving.
