Cream Cheese Cookies

Ingredients

½ cup Cream Cheese, softened
1 cup Powdered Sugar
½ cup Sugar
½ cup chopped Walnuts
½ tsp. Vanilla
½ cup Shortening
½ tsp. Almond extract
½ cup Butter, softened
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.


 


Sift powdered sugar into shallow bowl, stir in the walnuts and set aside.


 


In a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer, combine shortening, butter, cream cheese and sugar together until creamy and thoroughly blended (about 2-5 minutes)


 


Mix in the almond extract, vanilla, and flour.


 


Stir to combine.


 


Scoop dough by rounded tablespoons and roll into balls about 1 inch in diameter.


 


Place the balls on ungreased cookie sheets.


 


Bake in preheated oven until the cookies turn slightly golden at the edges about 8-15 minutes.


 


Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 1 minutes, then roll in the powdered sugar-walnut mixture while still a little warm.
