Crispy Onion Rings Private

Ingredients

- 2 large yellow onions, preferably Vidalia
- 3 cups buttermilk
- 3 cups flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- Vegetable oil for cooking

Instructions

Created on May 28th, 2013

  1. Cut onions into thin slices, removing the outer skin and separating the rings.

  2. Place in a 13x9 baking dish and pour buttermilk over the rings.

  3. Cover and refrigerate for 2-24 hours.

  4. Pour oil to a depth of about 2 inches into a Dutch oven or large deep skillet.

  5. Heat to 350 degrees.

  6. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and pepper.

  7. Dredge onion rings in flour mixture and place on baking sheet.

  8. Fry onion rings in batches, about 2 minutes or until turning brown.

  9. Drain on paper towels.

  10. Serve immediately or keep warm in a 200 degree oven until ready to serve.
