Preheat oven to 375 degrees
In a medium mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, 1/2 cup of the sugar, 1 tsp. of the lemon peel and 1 TB lemon juice; mix well.
In another mixing bowl, combine 3/4 cup of sugar, 1 tsp. of the lemon peel and 2 TB poppy seed.
Separate dough into 8 biscuits. Cut side of biscuit open to form an opening.
Fill each opening with 2 rounded TB of the cream cheese mixture. *If using smaller biscuits, use only 1 Tb of cream cheese mixture.
Press edges firmly to seal.
Dip filled biscuit into melted butter; coat with poppy seed mixture.
Place in ungreased muffin cups.
Bake at 375 degrees for 13 - 17 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
Cool 10 minutes.
Run knife around edge to loosen puff; remove.
Serve warm and enjoy!
